She began her painting career in Northeast Florida, where she exhibited in several galleries in St. Augustine and Jacksonville, winning numerous awards. Hosbein’s paintings capture the essence of “like in the moment” which visible brushstrokes of color. The messages within her work are simple and singular; a moment, a memory or an impression. Hosbein is fascinated with the way light plays on and around forms. She paints in the style of contemporary realism with roots in impressionism with a focus in oil paint. Hosbein enjoys painting plein air, as well as in her studio which tends to be more experimental.
Hosbein has had many achievements, she is an official U.S. Coast Guard Artist, with three works accepted into the national collection in 2011 and 2014. She has received an Award of Excellence at the National Oil Painters of America 1st Annual Salon Plein Air Paint-Out in Petoskey, MI in 2013. “The intention of my work is to provide a light-filled healing moment when the viewer looks at the painting; that the energy that I feel during the process of painting will be translated within the art.”
